Why it matters

Most nausea and vomiting comes from something short-lived, like a stomach bug or food poisoning, and settles with the right treatment. The bigger risk is dehydration, which is exactly what a quick visit can turn around.

Clinic for nausea treatment

How we diagnose and treat it

Your provider asks what you have eaten, how long this has gone on, and what other symptoms you have, then examines you and runs on-site urine and blood tests when they help. Treatment focuses on stopping the nausea and replacing what you have lost. Anti-nausea medication settles your stomach so you can keep fluids down, and if you are dehydrated, IV fluids can turn your day around quickly. We also tell you how to ease back into eating and drinking at home.

IV hydration

IV fluids and medication

Contact us

Dehydration is what makes a stomach bug feel so awful, with the dizziness, headache, and exhaustion that come with it. On-site IV fluids rehydrate you faster than sipping can, and paired with anti-nausea medication, most people feel noticeably better before they leave.

Your visit

What to expect at your visit

Walk in to any of our three locations and you are usually seen within about ten minutes. Testing, IV fluids, and medication happen in the same visit. We accept most major insurance and offer fair cash pricing.

Dehydration treatment at home

What you can do at home

Once the worst passes, take small, frequent sips of water or an electrolyte drink rather than large amounts at once, and ease back into bland foods like toast, rice, and bananas. Rest, and avoid greasy or heavy meals until your stomach settles.

Emergency warning signs

When vomiting needs the ER

Go to the emergency room for blood in your vomit, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, severe or constant stomach pain, a stiff neck with fever, signs of severe dehydration such as dizziness, a racing heart, and no urination, vomiting after a head injury, or vomiting during pregnancy that will not stop. When you are not sure, call us.

FAQ

Nausea and vomiting questions, answered

When should I go to urgent care for vomiting?

Come in if you cannot keep fluids down for more than a day, feel dizzy or dehydrated, or have a fever with the vomiting. IV fluids and anti-nausea medication can turn it around quickly.

Do you give IV fluids?

Yes. We have IV hydration on site, which is the fastest way to treat dehydration from a stomach bug or food poisoning.

How do I stop throwing up?

Take small, frequent sips rather than big drinks, and rest your stomach. If it will not stop, we can give anti-nausea medication and fluids during a visit.

What are the signs of dehydration?

Dry mouth, dizziness, dark urine or not urinating, a racing heart, and feeling very tired are common signs. Severe dehydration needs prompt treatment.
