Measles, once eradicated in the USA, is making a come back. And this is BAD news for anyone who has NOT been immunized against the disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 600 people have already contracted measles, with Florida one of the main states affected. This is significant, considering in 2016 there were less than 100 cases.

How is it possible that a disease, once eradicated in the USA, is making such a come back? Well, the answer is simple: A lack of immunizations. If your child has not been vaccinated, then you are putting them at risk from contracting measles. An additional cause is the increase in international travel, which can lead to measles being contracted in other countries, then brought back to the USA. Taken together, these two factors have contributed to a surge in reported cases of measles in Florida, as well as other states.
