Why it matters
Most everyday back and neck pain is a muscle or joint problem that responds well to the right care. The goal of your visit is to rule out anything serious, ease the pain, and give you a clear path back to normal.
Back pain urgent care in Palm Beach
Back, neck, and joint pain we treat
- Muscle strains and spasms from lifting, sports, or a long day of work
- Neck pain and stiffness, including after a minor car accident (whiplash)
- Lower back pain and tweaks that flared up suddenly
- A pinched nerve or shooting pain down the leg that is mild to moderate
- Joint pain in the knees, shoulders, hips, and wrists
- Aches and injuries that are painful but not an emergency
Most back and neck pain starts in the muscles, ligaments, or joints, not the spine itself. Lifting the wrong way, sleeping in an odd position, a minor fender bender, or simply overdoing it can leave the muscles strained and inflamed. Sometimes a nerve gets irritated, which is what causes pain, tingling, or numbness that travels down an arm or leg. Your provider figures out which of these you are dealing with, since the treatment is different for each.
Neck injury treatment
How we diagnose and treat it
Your provider asks how the pain started and checks how you move, where it hurts, and whether your strength and reflexes are normal. If a fracture or a joint problem is possible, we take an X-ray on site so you get answers the same visit. Treatment usually includes medication for pain and inflammation, muscle relaxers when they are appropriate, and clear guidance on ice, heat, and the kind of gentle movement that helps you heal faster than bed rest. If your injury points to something that needs physical therapy or an orthopedic specialist, we tell you and help you take that next step.
Your visit
What to expect at your visit
Walk in to any of our three locations with no appointment. You check in at the front desk and are usually seen within about ten minutes. We handle the exam, any X-ray, and your prescription in one stop, and we can send the prescription straight to your pharmacy. We accept most major insurance plans and offer fair cash pricing if you are paying on your own.
Straight talk
Urgent care, the ER, or your regular doctor?
For most back and neck pain, urgent care is the practical choice. It is faster and far less expensive than an emergency room, and you do not have to wait days for a primary care opening.
Save the ER for the warning signs below. If your pain keeps coming back or never fully clears, that is a good reason to follow up with a primary care provider or a specialist, and we can point you there.
Back pain relief at home
What you can do at home
Alongside treatment, ice for the first day or two brings down swelling, and heat after that helps loosen tight muscles. Keep moving gently rather than lying flat all day, since too much rest can stiffen things further. Over-the-counter pain relievers and good posture while you recover also help.
Emergency warning signs
When back or neck pain needs the ER
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if your pain follows a serious fall or car crash, or if you have numbness or weakness in your legs, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin area, or back pain along with chest pressure, a fever, or trouble breathing. These can signal a serious problem that needs emergency care right away. When you are not sure, call us and we will help you decide where to go.
FAQ
Back and neck pain questions, answered
Do I need an X-ray for back pain?
Not always. Many muscle strains heal without imaging. We take an X-ray when your history or exam suggests a fracture or joint problem, and having it on site means you get the answer during your visit.
Should I rest or keep moving?
Gentle movement usually beats total rest. A day of taking it easy is fine, but staying flat for too long tends to stiffen the muscles and slow your recovery. Your provider will give you specific guidance.
How do I know if it is a pulled muscle or something worse?
A pulled muscle is sore and stiff but improves over days. Pain with numbness, weakness, or that travels down a limb, or pain after a hard fall or crash, deserves a closer look. Walk in and we will sort it out.
Can I be treated without an appointment?
Yes. Walk in to any of our three Palm Beach County locations, seven days a week.
